Hanna, fat girl turned skinny and popular who steals expensive clothes and accessories from the mall. We have Aria who is having an inappropriate relationship with her English teacher. The characters are so individual and unique and I love all of their story lines.

I loved this book and I am loving the TV show. Best friends, girl dies, other girls receive mysterious texts. I’m honestly mixing up some details from the book and the TV show, but the premise is there. They all come together when Alison’s body is found and the text messages keep on coming. Three years later, the girls start receiving mysterious text messages from someone named “A.” The group of best friends slowly grow apart as they all struggle with their feelings about Alison’s disappearance and their own secrets. One night when they are all hanging out, Alison, the queen bee of the group suddenly disappears. Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard tells the story of five best friends who live in a wealthy Philadelphia suburb.

Here is a pretty picture that accidentally happened when I was taking the other picture of the book.Īlso, I just started an Instagram account sort of related to this blog so if you like looking at just pictures feel free to check it out.I don’t think Pretty Little Liars even needs a summary/introduction since it is all anyone in the book blog world and the TV world is talking about, but in case you’ve been living under a rock: It makes me a little bit worried about my Dad, but that’s just me. That is the same thing that happened to my Dad’s mum when he was around Conrad’s age… and now my Dad has prostate cancer, and they say that there are some theories that breast cancer and prostate cancer can be linked in genetics.

SPOILERS One thing that I found kind of trippy and unsettling (which is completely personal and nothing to do with the writing or anything like that) was the fact that Susannah was dying of breast cancer after having had it already once in her life. However, where I live in Canada, 19 is the legal drinking age, so there is kind of a barrier between 19 and anyone under 19, so unless it’s like 18 and 19, it seems a little bit weird to me. I also thought that it was a little bit odd that Belly actually felt like she had a chance with Conrad, because he was almost four years older than her. Sometimes this makes the book painful to read (a lot of face palming and wanting to scream what she doesn’t understand into the book) but that’s how I feel about my fifteen year old self as well, so I can’t complain. Belly is naive, shallow, and definitely has her dumb moments, but that’s exactly what you’d expect from a girl her age, well, anyone her age. Obviously Han was a fifteen year old girl once too, but I feel like a lot of people forget how it actually felt to be at that age. I admire how real Jenny Han made her narrator. One thing you have to be aware of is that the narrator is a fifteen year old girl, so she has fifteen year old girl thoughts. If you like mostly fun, slightly-angsty books about teenage girls with crushes on boys then this is definitely the book for you.

It’s a pretty fun plot, so nothing can really go wrong. Belly has always had a crush on Conrad and she feels like this summer might finally be the summer that she has always wished for. The book is about a fifteen year old girl named “Belly” who spends her summers at a beach house with her family, and her Mum’s best friends family that includes two boys Jeremiah and Conrad. You would think that I would wait until summer to read this, seeing as it’s all about summer, but after reading Between Shades of Gray and being surrounded by cold for a few months, I felt like it might have been the perfect time to give it a read. I picked up this book from a sale at my library last year because I had only heard good things about it, and when I hear good things about a summery chick lit I am all for it.
